A Few More Cruise Pics

Here are a couple of my favorite pics that my dad took. His camera takes really big pictures and I can't remember which ones I compressed so I'll put these four up for now because I know I compressed them. The first is of my mom and I with the momma and the baby seal, then the three of us in Hell (yes. Hell) us with sombraos in mexico and us with the turtle in the caymen's.

Home From The Cruise

I miss my little cabin already, but today I went to pick up the cats and dogs...I really missed them and they were all so happy to see me...that makes it okay to be home. And of course it was right back into the grind of school. But onto more important things..the cruise details!

First off we had a blast. Everyone agreed that the only problem was it was way too short! I think we all liked Mexico the best, although I just recently heard that two Canadians were killed down there which was kind of scary. I'm wondering what the situation was around that. In Mexico we went on a Jeep ride and then to passion island...also known as Ilsa Passion. It was all inclusive and we had real Mexican salsa and guacamole. We also got our hair in wraps...that's when they use the thread stuff. In the Caymens we went on a tour that included a stop at the turtle farm, hell and stingray city. We liked the turtle farm the best because we could hold the turtles and they weren't scary like the stingrays! Then in Jamaica we went to Dunn's River Falls, the dolphin cove and a beach. Heather went in Survivor on the boat and we made a boat for the contest and won a trophy. Most of our fun days at sea were spent lazing in the sun and swimming.

The first set of pictures are us fitting our life jackets for the safety drill. we had to go to our mustar stations to make sure we knew where to go and all that. We have the four of us with the parrots, me, my mom and Heather ready for dinner on our second formal night, and me trying out real mexican tequila (YUCK!) . Then we have a picture of the boat on one of our days at sea...the lido deck really gets busy! Next two of the towel babies, our jeep ride in mexico, Meeting the lizard in Jamaica, meeting the turtle in the Caymen's and climbing Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica. When my dad gets his pictures up I'll post more because he has some really good ones.

Crusin Saturday!

We leave for the cruise on Saturday. Well we leave for Halifax today, then fly to Miami, drive to ft. Lauderdale, sleep, drive back to Miami and sail out on Saturday. AHHHH. I guess ft. Lauderdale is about half an hour away from Miami so it would be like driving from my house to North Sydney or something. Not too bad. I'll try to update a bit while I'm on the ocean...I might buy some internet minutes this time since Heather will be there to use them as well. Have a good week everyone!

Semi Formal Time

Almost makes me want to get into a gown...

My cousin Heather and her friends were all dressed their best tonight for their semi formal, Heathers last as a high school student. She graduates this year...insane! Anyway the pictures turned out really nice. I don't know any of her friends names though except to say that her boyfriend is Jeff. And the one in the whitish dress is Angie. The boys I don't know but they were friendly. In other news the olympics started off well today with Canada flattening Italy in women's hockey (16-0) and Heil getting gold in the moguls. I saw her in the replays and she did awesome...she did a back flip and crossed her skiies at the same time...it was amazing. I also found out I'm on the floor this week in pedes, then the youth health center after the break and then on the floor again. Sounds like a good lineup.

A Few More Clinical Pics

I found a few more pictures from medsurg clinical...So I thought I'd post them. I didn't get any from mental health..I meant to take my camera and kept forgetting...and now that rotation is over...one more rotation before third year is over (insane). The picture at the top is of Charlene, Shannon, me and Krista getting ready for the day...it's about 0625 in that picutre...way too early! Next we have Shannon trying to look awake and Lydia, me and Angela working (really we are) on our charting and stuff that we have to pass in to Debbie. We spent most of the time we weren't with our clients at that desk working on stuff to pass in. The next few weeks I'm in pedes, but I'm not sure where yet (either on the floor or learning stuff like the denver assessment scale with audrey) I'm really looking forward to this clinical rotation though.

I think this is nice...

1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you

4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

5. You mean the world to someone.

6. If not for you, someone may not be living.

7. You are special and unique.

8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you
probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and wait on His
time, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still
come from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look:
you most likely turned your back on the world

11. Someone that you don't even know exists, loves you.

12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the
rude remarks.

13. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much
better when they know and you'll both be happy.

14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that
they are great.

Angus and Bethie Reunite & Welcome Baby Ewen

So on Tuesday I went to visit Dana and meet Ewen and see Angus. I have to say I missed that boy a lot and it was so good to see him again. He's getting so big now, and really independent. He's not shy like he use to be and he loves the wiggles. He also loves his baby brother. What he doesn't like (or has had enough of) is getting pictures. I'm guessing there have been a lot of picture taking going on lately. So he got in the ones Dana took but wasn't impressed, then I snuck a couple of him playing. We had a good night watching the wiggles and dancing. Oh and I was quite tired in the pictures having come from a clinical so I look horrible...but you're not clicking on them to see me anywa :P

My Next Computer Will Be A Mac

*I haven't received an email like this and I wouldn't click on it if I did anyway...but this is insane the way people can send viruses*

Updated Thu. Feb. 2 2006 6:24 PM ET

Experts are warning that a seductively-named but maliciously-behaving computer worm -- dubbed "Kama Sutra" -- is set to wreak havoc Friday on systems worldwide.

Computer security companies report that the Kama Sutra worm -- named after the famous Sanskrit treatise on love and s**ual positions -- has been spreading through cyberspace since Jan. 16, packaged in emails with subject headings like "give me a kiss" and "crazy illegal s**."

When users click on an attachment sent with the emails, their computers become infected with malicious software designed to replicate itself. The worm burrows itself deep within any infected computer running Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and Windows ME operating systems.

On Friday, Feb. 3 and the third of every month thereafter, the worm is programmed to go to work -- overwriting or corrupting Microsoft Windows Office documents, Word documents, Excel spread sheets, and PDF (portable document format) files.

"This one can damage your office files, your Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and your Powerpoint presentation," Tino Klironomos, a computer retailer, said. "(The files will be) all gone, history."

The computer security company LURHQ reports that there may be hundreds of thousands of machines already infected with the worm, which also goes by the monikers "BlackWorm," "CME-24," "Blackmal," "Mywife.E" and "Nyxem."

But security companies assure that it's not too late to protect your system from such a fate.

Prevention

Alain Sergile, a security expert at Internet Security Systems (ISS) in Atlanta, said computer users should arm themselves with anti-virus software "which basically protects them from worms, self-propagating worms."

"There are some free applications out there as well that allow you to scan your computer for spyware," he added.

People can also protect themselves by ensuring they have the most up-to-date anti-virus and firewall protection.

Besides being careful about opening email messages and attachments, experts say users would be wise to back up their most valuable computer files on an external device such as a CD, zip drive or DVD.

Don't open any messages with the subject headers "crazy, illegal s**", "give me a kiss" and "hot movie."

The worm will not affect machines running on different operating systems such as Mac OS.
