And it starts...

Today I got up, ate breakfast and did work. I wrote half my biology lab report, did one and a half weekly objectives, pulled a nursing diagnosis out of my ass and started studying micro and pharmacology.

Needless to say I would like to go to bed right now for ten hours. But I still have three hours of work before I can do that. I have to get up tomorrow at five for work so I have to go to bed early today. I was hoping I'd get a four thirty to nine, but at least the seven to twelve thirty gives me an extra hour on the pay. Which is always good.

But for now...back to the work.

Another Snow Day

I haven't gone to school on a monday yet this simester. How crazy is that? And this along with my tuesdays off means I've only had three days a week of school. Not complaining at all. My first week is going to seem insane though. Oh wait I did have one full one...the week I was sick.

So today I'm going to kick around here, play some zelda and do some homework...not necessairly in that order. We got forty cm last night and it's still coming, although they're calling for some rain...yuck.

Zelda

I'm becoming obsessed with this game. Since I worked backshift last night, I got quite a bit of work done so I didn't have to do it today...so I had time to play it a little bit. Okay three hours. I love that game! He's on a little island right now and has to find a sail for his talking boat. In a place that doesn't really make sails. I'm trying to find this box thing for this guy to see if he'll make it for me, but so far none of the clues I got helped.

Anyway onto nursing stuff...I just called my older adult to set up an appointment for our first interview, it's going to be tuesday. I have to interview her without paper and a pen and remember it all the way home. ugh. But it should be fine. I have to find a family to interview as well...after monday which is when we're talking about that. And I have a group project I have to do. Lots of fun I must say.

That's it for now. I have to decide if I want to do more homework or play zelda...

Should Have Been A Teacher

I got called into backshift last night after being up with school and not getting much sleep the night before that. It was horrible...and I haven't quite recovered from it yet. Only nurses and doctors deal with this kind of nonsence. But I'll live. I have a headache from it...but I'll live.

Lab was good the other day though, as was skiing. It was a beautiful night. I didn't make it to the gym though, and today was too cold to leave the house so I didn't. Plus I was tired. Tomorrow there's a snowstorm coming...one plus of working tonight...no chance of getting snowed in tomorrow. And I'll bring schoolwork with me so I'll have something to do. I have to write out two objectives for when I go to my first interview with my old person on tuesday. And I have to call her and make the plans.

I guess that's it for now. I can't wait to go back to bed.

Can't Find My Newest Blog!

I just went to see if it was there, and well I can't find it. No matter I'll just write another one in hopes that that one will show up eventually.

Today is Friday! I'm actually kind of happy about that because I'm still a little behind in school from going to halifax and being sick last week. So I can use the weekend to catch up and get some hours in at my place of employment too. Work is good.

Yesterday I went to the Gym and started the weights. The first day I did cardio and just watched around me while other people worked out. But last night I ventured to the weight room, wich wasn't as bad as I expected. For one thing all the machines have directions right on them...and some of them I could watch other people while I was waiting the few minutes before doing my next set. So I have most of them figured out now.

Anyway I guess that's it for now. Today is lab with Cyndee and I have all my work done for it so that's good. Then it's go to gym, get work done, and go skiing. Yey! good looking day.

Maybe when I go away I'll learn how to surf.

Call The Man...He's Needed Here

School is going pretty good. I threw myself into my studies and can't believe I've been back almost a month already. I miss having Amanda and Chrissy and Anglea in my classes, but that was my own fault for choosing my profs before they did. It's not too bad, just weird not seeing them in the morning. Tonight I got started on our big project..it's worth thirty five percent of our final mark. We have to find an older adult and do a full wellness assessment on them. Yikes. But I can do this...I know I can. I have Cyndee for my clinical instructor so that's nice. I don't have Judy this simester, but that's okay...I still see her lots anyway. I also have to find a family to assess...didn't do that yet. I like my pharmacology prof Odette. She's really nice, but she has an accent that I have to get use to. So far it's not too bad and she's so sweet. And I have my crew in that class so that's good too.

So I went to work yesterday and the place is closed because of the flu. We weren't allowed in the different departments and three residents were in Hospital for different reasons. I walked in and Jeanette was like "Hands, Face, Bum and get them dressed that's all I ask" so I picked a resident and got started. Besides that I had to chase some of them around who didn't understand that they couldn't be out of the rooms. And we had to go around with Diatary and give out the trays because they wouldn't go in the rooms. And one of the residents died. Everytime we ran out of something we had to call Wanda, one of the in-charges, and get her to bring it to us. I never felt so secluded before...just having the doors closed was insane. Then in the middle of all that we had a huge leak in the celing. Lovely. I was never so happy to leave that place at five. And yet...I loved the rush that we had. I love being a nurse.

I guess that's it for now. Tomorrow I'm going skiing after school and I can't wait. Then Thursday I have to come up with five goals for Friday. And get some Zelda in there somewhere too...Busy week!

Back To It

So my friend gave me this book, and I found the perfect use for it. I'm going to write about all my nursing experiences from the time I actually decided to become a nurse and hopefully ending when I retire. Then I'm going to publish it and call it Nurse Notes. Awesome eh? I'll sign copies for y'all.

Tomorrow I start back to school again and I honestly can't wait. I miss it like you wouldn't believe. I'm so ready to go back.
