Do A Little Dance...Make A Little Love.

So I absolutely miss going to school.

I am going to tell you now that this is the first year in my life that I looked forward to going back to school. The years I was living in Halifax I looked forward to going back to the city, but school I could give or take. Last year it wasn't that bad, but school was harder for me because it was new even though I loved it. And I did enjoy going back and seeing everyone. This year...I want to go back to SCHOOL. I miss it...learning skills that are going to build my career, my profession...the biggest part of who I am right now.

5:55am

Make a wish.

I don't know why I started this because I'm so tired I can't even type. I know what I'm wishing for though ;)

I have work in an hour. But I have to leave early to get myself a chocolate milk. And I like to get to work early anyway.

I love work. I love nursing.

Perfect.

Well I finally fixed the time on this thing so I don't have to change it myself. I keep forgetting so the time is always wrong except for today's stuff. As you can see from the picture below I've had my hair straightened for awhile. It'll only last until I next wash it, but I think I might get my own straightener so I can do it whenever I want to.

News from the nursing station:
I didn't do a single thing nursey today, but I did pass my anatomy exam, which means I probably passed the course for this year. It's a six credit course so I'm not out of the water with that yet. I ran into my professor at the mall today and she was chatting away and I wouldn't ask, but then finally she was like "You passed your exam eh." But I don't know if I passed it well or just passed it. Not that I care at the time being, but I really want to get my marks up. As you can see by clicking here and then going to requirements I need a sixty average this year, and then a seventy average next year followed by a seventy five average the year after that. Yikes. Actually I think I can do it. Once I get my sciences out of the way...because I'm already rocking the nursing courses. Well I have to bring them from seventy fiveish to eightyish. High eightyish if possible. I have to work harder.

Tomorrow is bowling and then it's get ready for christmas.

No More Exams

Well I finished my exams for this simester, and I think they went well as a whole. I just have to get into that christmas thing now. Ugh that's the hard part. I've been back to work for two days and I really missed it. Tonight I got to do vitals on one of the residents which is always fun, except I don't like the stethascope that they have over there. Wasn't too bad though.

I still have to get one more part of my parent's christmas gift: stockings. I decided this year they need stockings stuffed...with what I don't know...little things...maybe some fun camping stuff for my dad and...something....for my mom. I don't know what yet. I'll figure it out. And I'm going to put our names on them and maybe get small ones for my animals too. Hang them on the mantel. I'm starting to get into it a bit.

Tomorrow is hair appointment/jacket buying/boot getting. Then Saturday is the big do with the nursing society. I'm going to take my camera there for sure. Get lots of fun pictures.

Speaking of which my pictures came back from walmart and I highly suggest going there to get your digital pictures developed. It's only twenty five cents a picture and the quality is amazing. I was really impressed with it. you can go here to check it out yourself.

Makes digital pictures even better.

Well that's it for now. I've been very bored with not having school...it's weird because I put so much into it the past three months, and exams were so busy that I was studying all the time..suddenly I have all this free time and I can't remember what I use to do with it. I'm trying to remember what it was I wanted to do when I had work to do...and I can't.

But right now I want to go to bed. So I think I'll do that.

No More Purcussing. For Now

I'm not sure how that exam went anymore. But I'm not going to say anything else because when I wrote the midterm I thought I failed it and it turns out I got a seventy seven. So it should be okay.
All that's left is Monday:Nursing 215 for Cyndee and Wednesday: The dreded A&P Exam. That's going to be the kicker. Then I can gotobedpartydrinkandgetreadyforchristmas.
Why is it when you really want to talk to someone on the phone there's noone home? I've left more messages in the past twenty minutes than I can count. Bah.

Hearts Broken...Remembering Somthing I Forgot

So its Tuesday night and I'm studying public health. Let me tell you something about this course: ITS BORING!

Well actually, Shelia made it very interesting this year with cool assignments and group work stuff. I'm looking forward to having her next simester. She's quite the professor.

And then it's Physical Assessment with Judy, a class I'm going to miss and wish it was the full year like X is. Oh well. Pharmacology next simester. Should be interesting.

When I was at the Mount my advisor told me a good way to see if you're fit for what you're in is to write down what you want to become...what you see this giving you...
wow.

Nursing. When I was in grade ten I got really sick and that's when I really decided I wanted to be a nurse. When the guidance councellor came around with info about picking grade eleven classes and how you have to take university into consideration, my first question was "what do you have to do to become a nurse?" And that was that.
But my self esteem was quite low, and I didn't think I could do it. I didn't believe I had the knowledge, or that....thing....that nurses have. So in grade twelve I took a different approach.

I didn't like it.

I wasn't happy and I knew it. Then my best friend said something that made me think "if you don't like it now, think how it's going to be when you're a teacher..." IT being papers and stuff.

So that made me think. And I thought about it all through third and most of fourth year. I wasn't happy with where I was heading. This was not what I wanted to do.

I wanted to be a nurse.
So I applied to university to become one, and got accepted...and now Im into my second year, and not once did I feel like I wasn't suppose to be there. I love my profs, I love what I'm doing.
I don't feel that my *other* time in university was a waste though. I gained confidence...far more than I had graduating from high school. I learned how to do things for myself...ask for help when needed and study. And write a kick ass thousand word paper in one night.

And now I'm going to be a Nurse.

Fat Soluable Vitamins: ADEK

Well I'm pretty much finished studying for Nutrition. Right now I'm sitting here with my cat on my lap and very happy....I'll have to take a picture of my cats and dogs to put here. Anyway tomorrow is nutrition and then I can focus on nursing, which I'm better at focusing on anyway. Partly because it's nursing and mostly because I want to impress my profs. They're sweethearts and I'm going to miss them next simester (well except shelia...I have her again...)
But that's it for now. Gotta go call Mark.

Saturday, December 04, 2004

Ouch.

I'm revising my nutrition notes because they are a mess the way he does them.

Translation: I have ten lectures to write over.

My hand hurts like a sonofabitch.

I'm off to watch third watch and revise some more.

Trying Not To Let This Make Me Mad But...

I really hate how inconsiderate people can be sometimes. Simple things like trying to voice your opinion in debate to what someone else said, but if it isn't the same as theirs things get twisted around so you're the immature one with bad grammar. Just pointing things like that out is immature. I feel if you have to tell someone else they are immature that's saying something. And if you have to declare you're mature, well that's something too.

But on other news:
Judy wasn't there today to receive our tape and stuff...told us that we could pass it in but is gone until next wednesday. So we gave it to Meg. My cousin is getting her x ring today. another two years and I will be getting mine.

And I booked off my time to go see Mark in January. So far two people are coming up and splitting gas, and I have room for one more. Fun times.

Now it's time to study. This is my exam schedule:
Monday: Nutrition
Wednesday: Nursing 205
Saturday: Physical Assessment
Monday:Nursing 215
Wednesday:Anatomy.

But I'm off to eat and study soon.

And Here We Are It's A New Day

So last night I watched Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and came to a conclusion: we are all Bridget in our own way.

Some of us don't have the wobbly bits that she does...this is certainly not me of course I have them and know where they are. Some are not quite as neurotic. But maybe we are. Maybe she is an exagerattion of what we all think on a daily basis.

I came to another conclusion while talking with my friend about sex and the city, and who we might be like. I think the point of that show is that every woman who watches it can relate to at least one of the characters...sometimes more than one. I like to think I am as independent as Maranda, but I tend to be as neurotic as Carrie sometimes. Other times I can see the Charlotte in me...wanting to get married and stuff. Have a family. Someday...after school is over.

But I digress.

Today I have to finish up the raw ends of the stuff I did yesterday, meet with my friends for coffee, and make a couple of significant phone calls.

Before I can do any of that I need to get in the shower and wake up.

Bridget Jones You Are a Sly Thing

Amazing movie I must say. I highly reccomend this to anyone. Way better than the first one too. I roared. Go See it.

Elsewhere Is Everywhere

Ever feel like you've written something twice?

I wrote this once but accidently deleted the whole thing. So.

A little about me...
My name is Beth, I'm twenty three and I'm a nursing student. I love anything you can do outdoors (camping, skiing, swimming, sailing, hiking), reading (To Kill a Mockingbird, Summer Sisters, Lovely Bones, anything that leaves you thinking about the book for days after reading it), watching ER and Third Watch and I am very much in love with my future career and my job (nursing home). I love my friends.

My life is very full, but sure to have some drama too...what life doesn't? Have fun reading.
