Dog Bling

I went to my dad's store today and got some new collars and leashes for the dogs. These ones have the breast cancer ribbon on them and proceeds go to the breast cancer foundation. They look pretty snazzy in them if I do say so myself. I might take susie to the run for the cure this year (lil gets too stressed on long walks) They had a good time flitting around the yard while I took pictures today.

There's not much else going on today though. I worked this morning, the last dayshift of three in a row. I was just getting use to them and now they're finished. I start evenings tomorrow. I haven't had an evening in awhile so I don't really mind having to work it. I had to pass in my school schedule today too and tell them when I'd be available to work. I can't believe school is starting back up already.

I found out I go to obs. first. That's like labour and delivery of babies and then followup with mummy afterwards. I can't wait to do this rotation.

Tonight if all goes well my parents and I are going to Boston Pizza. I say that because my dad is mia at the moment and we can't go too late or there'll be a wait. Although I might go and wait anyway. That food is worth it.

Lil' Susie

I went upstairs the other day to find little susie all curled up on her bed fast asleep. Of course my moving woke her up but what can ya do eh? I snapped a picture anyway so you could see how cute she is curled up on her little pillow.
Today my new router came in which means really fast internet for me. I wasn't expecting the difference when I hooked it up, and didn't notice until I started my computer (put it on my dad's first). My home page is ctv.ca and it's usually really slow to load because there's so much going on there. Click on the link and you'll see what I mean. Tonight I'm going to play pool with my cousin Bradley. He turned nineteen on the nineth so he said he'd come check out the new dooly's with me. I use to play all the time in Halifax but haven't gotten out much here. Tomorrow I think I'm going to try and clean my room and then think about if I want to go get my schoolbooks yet or not.

The Whyte Boys.

The other night we went out to mira for some yummy lasagna that Dana's sister made for us. Anyway John, Angus, my dad and Jeff decided nine pm was the perfect time to jump into the black river and have a swim. Hmmmm. They had a blast though, Angus would splash them and they'd pretend to fall over. I did put my feet in and the water was perfect for swimming in, although kind of cold getting out...the air wasn't warm. Anyway in this picture from left to right is Angus, John, my dad (Fred), and Jeff.

Halifax Eh?

I went to Halifax over the weekend and I must say I had a royal blast. I really missed my city. Leslie and I walked all over the city...something I haven't done in a good year anyway. Last time I took a lot of pictures was during the storm. Anyway Here we have me driving over the MacKay Bridge (Leslie took that picture lol), the black market after that...really cool place to visit...then it's the harbour hopper driving down Spring Garden Rd. Next is a building that Jenn and I once claimed as ours, and we refer to it as the blue building, then the chess tables at the public gardens, the actual front gate to the gardens, a very old tree, some cactus, and a part of the garden that I really liked.
The lobsters have landed! This year for a fundraiser Halifax Regional Municipality had business sponsor these lobsters all over the city. Check out the specs here. These are four of my favorites. I'm not sure who did the top one, but it's sort of musical and he's got a book for a mouth. The one I'm standing next to is under the Thirsty Duck, and he's a cyclopse chef. Then there's the Jimmy Hendrix fellow down the bottom and the CIBC run for the cure chick next to that.
Another personal favorite right here is Louise the Piping Hot Lobster, sponsored by Scotia Bank and residing on Hollis St. Think she'll get picked up on a frida
y night?
And here we have the public gardens, where I insisted we walk through before the sun went down. I had only been through twice before, all around the same time, and never with a camera. I have to say they did a really good job fixing it up since hurricane j
uan.
What trip to the gardens is complete without trying to make friends with the local ducks? These fella's really liked us...until they realized we didn't have any food! They stuck to swimming and trying to get food out of the pond after that.
Finally we went on a cruise across the harbour on the Halifax Metro Transit Ferry. I always love getting pictures of the city from the boat, this one didn't turn out too badly even though it's hard to catch the lights properly.
And on a sad note, my grandfather passed away Thursday night while I was enjoying my city. His and my grandmothers sixtieth anniversary is this week sometime...I take comfort in knowing they are together for this.

Meet Libby.
This is Libby. She's my little cousin who's three months old. Her and her mom came to visit. It was really nice to finally get to meet them. I think I'm going out there again tonight too.

Here I am holding her. I don't really like this picture of myself...but that's okay. I was too lazy to fix the redeye too so we all look nuts.

It seems I still have to work on posting the pictures. For some reason they won't go side by side.
But anyway here's my dad and angus playing with the cars that jean sent down. They were awesome.

My Weekend
First, on Saturday I went to the Aid For Africa concert in Sydney. If you want to find out more about all of this you can go here . It was a really good concert. It went for twelve hours starting at noon, but I was there from four onward. I saw Mae and Isabelle (people from work) and quite a bit of my extended family. Jenn came with me as well. We saw Aslyn Debison, Eric Angus Whyte, some other chick who's name I didn't catch, slowcoaster (the best bar none) and Gordie Sampson. I have to say I didn't get a good first impression with him a few years back at the Big Pond concert...but he did a really good job at this one and even made a song I hated sound better.
Today (Sunday) I worked seven to twelve and then my parents, Jenn and I went to some fancy place whose name I can't remember with John, Dana and Angus. Jenn and I had a good time teaching Angus how to use his imagination (for example, a rock became a plane and gave him twenty minutes of entertainment) and his parents actually got to go swimming together and have a conversation with my parents for an hour or so. It was a good time even though the water was like ice.
My dad took his camera today and yesterday so I'll have to get all the pictures sent to me. I think I'm going to do it tomorrow if I get the chance. If not soon. Marianne is coming home tomorrow with Libby so I'll have pictures from that too.

Blair's Witch Hunt.
CTV.ca News Staff
British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced plans today to expand powers to deport people who foster hatred and advocate violence.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Blair said he was prepared to amend human rights legislation if the new deportation measures give rise to legal challenges.
Under the European Convention on Human Rights, to which Britain is a signatory, it is not allowed to deport people to a country where they may face torture or death.
"Let no one be in any doubt that the rules of the games are changing,'' Blair said.
Blair said Friday that new legislation -- which he hopes to pass by the end of the year -- would see people refused asylum if they are found to have been involved in terrorism.
The legislation would target people who received training in terrorist techniques in Britain or abroad. Clerics who preach hate and web sites that sponsor violence, such as those offering instructions on bomb-making, would also be targeted.
A one-month consultation will be held on new grounds for excluding and deportation people from the United Kingdom.
Blair's comments come just over one month after a series of blasts on London's transit system killed 56 people, including four bombers.
My Thoughts On This:
How can you just decide that someone has terrorist thoughts and then deport them based on this? Are we going to resort back to the days of the salem witch trials...where people just decided their neighbors were witches because they were different? What makes a possible terrorist? How do you know what someone's intentions are/were before the act has already taken place...and by then isn't it too late? And besides....if they do deport the person who has terrorist thoughts...who's to say he won't strike from outside? I really don't think he's going in the right direction with this.

Birthdays, Swimming And Camping

So a few weeks ago it was my little cousin's birthday and I only just now got the pictures on my computer so I could put them here.
He turned three which I still can't believe...I remember the day he was born. That's him down the bottom...his name is Matthew. The top left is my mom feeding my other cousin's baby whose name is Chase. To the right is my aunt Sharon....doesn't she look like my mom?
Then on saturday I went swimming at my friend Shannon's pool...That's her over there with her boyfriend Chris. They live in the valley now...she's a vet and he's a nurse. I can't belive she's a doctor....I've known her since I was little. We had a good time though and I'm going to visit her on the nineteenth. I'm
exctied for that.
And here's little susie, tired after a trip to scout camp to visit my dad....he was there for a week with seven hundred and fifty scouts! That was insane, but it looked like they had a good time anyway.
Here's my parents at the camp...we brought my dad some Tim Horton's Coffee and nearly got mugged trying to get it through the field lol.
Last off, on monday Jenn and I went camping. It didn't last as long as we had wanted it too, though. It started to rain. That would have been fine had I known they were calling for the rain...I could have planned for it a little better and brought a dining shelter or something. And then the tent leaked a bit...we weren't swimming in water or anything...but it leaked. I just got it fixed in the night and then someone came and tripped over the line. What they were doing there I don't know. And the ground was really soft on the top so the pegs kept letting go. So when we heard the forcast was for more rain we decided to go home. My poor tent was a mess packing up. When I asked my dad he said sometimes the way the wind is blowing and conditions in the ground can cause the tent to leak. See, it's never happened before, even the other weekend when I was camping with amanda and we had a lot harder rain than this. So I was a little bit worried about the tent. Right now it is outside and almost dry except it got rained on again just now. Might be a couple of days before I can take it down. As for camping, I think from now on I'll take the bigger tent when it's more than me using it. Anyway the pictures....The top right is horses in Englishtown while we were waiting for the ferry. clockwise from that...well our campsite....before the rain hit. Then we have North Beach, and then Green Cove. The middle is Englishtown again...from the other side...can you see the rain?
